Newest NGO at IMO, ITTC supports DE in
revising the HSC Code
ITTC’s assistance had been requested by IMO for
the revision of the High-Speed Craft Code, in
particular the Interim Guidelines for the
conduct of high-speed craft model tests. The
model test guidelines have been reviewed by
ITTC’s Stability in Waves Specialist Committee;
a proposal with revised guidelines by ITTC was
submitted to DE49 (paper DE 49/5/2). ITTC was
officially granted the NGO status by IMO in
November 2005. The proposed model test
guidelines and their inclusion in the amended
2000 HSC Code were accepted by the Sub-Committee
at DE49 with due gratitude to ITTC. This was a
typical area in which ITTC can provide unique
expertise to IMO, and it is anticipated that
ITTC will be able to provide more constructive
support in the future in its capacity as NGO.
